GUYS, HOCKEY!!!!!
It’s officially that season again in Minnesota, with the Gophers’ first game at Xcel Center last night. They kind of
scared us a
lot, proving some of the predictions about their roster: good offense, crappy defense. I guess we’ll just have to score 10 goals a game and not expect to see shutouts. Man, that’s going to be rough.
We had dinner before the game at Tom Reid’s, which made up for its crappy food by having hockey memorabilia everywhere. On the way out, Matt met some brohams who bought him a dead nazi for being able to list the years the Gophers have won the NCAA Tournament, and when we ran into them after the game, they yelled, ‘hey, it’s the dead nazi guy!’ We met up with a bunch of people at Town Talk for Missy’s Not-Dead party, then mosied on to the Red Dragon, which was approximately the temperature of a convection oven inside. Holy crap.
Also yesterday, I got a letter from my doctor’s office confirming that everything was normal with my ultrasound. I wasn’t all that concerned about it, but considering my grandma just died and one of my best friends lost her job this week, waiting for a letter confirming you don’t perhaps have cancer is kind of rattling. Whew.
This afternoon, we shall return to Xcel Center to see the RPI (yes, apparently they have hockey there!) vs BC game, and then the Gophers play Michigan this evening. I’ll be the one in section 219 taking painkillers because I’m so tense it hurts.
