Dear Friends:<\/p>\n

Earlier this month, I started work on my handy reference guide to me<\/a>. It’s time for some new material. Unfortunately, rules two and three both derive from especially timely pet peeves.<\/p>\n

Rule Two: Treating me like I’m stupid is guaranteed to make me bitterly angry.<\/b><\/p>\n

I’ve always felt that I’m willing to accept anyone’s opinion about anything as long as they have a good reason for it, whether or not I agree. I also think that you’re not really entitled to criticize if you don’t have a better option. Apparently, disparagement comes easier than support.<\/p>\n

So, I guess what I’m trying to say is this: you can make fun of me for whatever you like, but if you tell me my ideas are dumb, I’m probably going to be upset about it. Call me sensitive.<\/p>\n

Now that I think about it, I could probably flesh this out into a list of red-flag topics: “Things What Piss Me Off.” Would that serve to improve interaction, or just make me an easy target? Hmm.<\/p>\n

Rule Three: If I tell you I’ll do something, I’ll do it.<\/b><\/p>\n

I hate flakiness and unreliability. It’s inconsiderate of other people’s time, and says little about trustworthiness. If I say I’ll meet you for lunch, work with you on a project, or send you an email, you can count on me to do it. If some extremely catastrophic event occurs to prevent me from the aforementioned commitment, I’ll still find some way to let you know.<\/p>\n

No, really. If I die in an accident on the way to your place, expect me to be haunting you with my apology.<\/p>\n

On a related note, I really<\/i> hate it when people talk and talk and never act. I promise that within a reasonable time, I will either have accomplished whatever big plans I rambled incessantly about, or I will have shut the hell up about it.<\/p>\n
