Dear Friends:<\/p>\n

<\/a>It’s kind of funny that I haven’t mentioned this yet, as it’s been occupying most of my spare time-to-think1<\/a><\/sup><\/span> lately: I’m going on a trip.<\/p>\n

Now you’re rolling your eyes and wondering what’s new, because it’s true, I do travel a lot. In fact, I just got back from Chicago at 2am this morning. But this trip is different in a couple important ways. First of all, I don’t really have a plan other than a general direction. Second, I’m going alone.<\/p>\n

I’ve decided to head west. I wanted to go somewhere I haven’t been in the U.S. before, which meant either New England or the west coast. New England strikes me as a little too uptight for a make-it-up-as-I-go trip, so the choice was easy. Also, I’ve never seen the Pacific Ocean. And that’s just sad.<\/p>\n

<\/a>I plan on leaving next Monday (June 30), and taking I-94 through North Dakota and Montana towards Seattle. I’ll probably be gone for a couple of weeks. That’s all I know so far2<\/a><\/sup><\/span>. So, since I don’t have a set plan in mind, I’m going to make a blanket statement: If you live out thataway, and want to<\/p>\n

  1. get together for coffee, or\n
  2. show me the best vegetarian restaurant in town, or\n
  3. let me crash on your floor, or even\n
  4. all of the above,<\/ol>\n

    let me know<\/a>! To make it easy, I’ve made a handy reference chart. If you live in the red zone, then what I’m saying applies to you, yes, you<\/i>. If you don’t, you’ll just have to wait. Or drive to Minneapolis, and I’ll take you to dinner and let you stay in my guest room. Either way.<\/p>\n
