Man.<\/p>\n

I haven’t written in a while, and therefore I suck.<\/p>\n

OK, woodshop. Last night I learned about relief cuts and the massive saw curf created by my close friend, the radial arm saw. I’m making peace with the band saw, too, although I still have bad feelings towards the table saw. One of these days we’ll all start getting along, though, and things will be good.<\/p>\n

I’m finished with almost all my cuts, even the fancy pieces, so next week I’ll bring hardware and a drill and start assembling. If this thing actually turns out, I’m throwing a party, and you are invited.<\/p>\n

I love woodshop because it’s calming. That seems strange, with all the noise and dust and machines that are just waiting for an opportunity to remove my limbs. But there’s a flow to it; the work is methodical and exacting. After cutting, I spent half an hour with the sander last night, and it was hypnotic, even though my fingers keep falling asleep today. I guess I can trade zen for nerve damage. It’s worth it. I’m makin’ stuff.<\/p>\n
