I was a little sad because Miguel is far and away the awesomest car I&#8217;ve ever owned, but then I&#8217;m more happy about the way it worked out: his buyer is fantastic (and loves Minis a lot), I made a pile of cash on the deal, and I get a new car. WIN!<\/p>\n<p>I took the train out to the mall to meet Matt last night, and we toured some car lots and talked to some salesmen. I didn&#8217;t see anything perfect (it&#8217;s possible I&#8217;m extremely picky), but I have a good idea of what I&#8217;m looking for. Here is my working list, direct from my garage on CarSoup.com:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>2008 Mitsubishi Eclipse<\/li>\n<li>2008 Mazda RX-8<\/li>\n<li>2006 Saab 9-3 (the updated version of my old car)<\/li>\n<li>2006 GTO<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Yes, one of those things is not like the others. However, it&#8217;s ORANGE. And a muscle car. And makes me warm to think about it. We&#8217;re going to drive it tonight.<\/p>\n<p>But in general, what I&#8217;m looking for is 2006 or newer, low miles, manual transmission, and <em>fast<\/em>. Fast is most important, obviously. I love test-driving cars. Part of me wants to go drive a Jaguar, even though it&#8217;s fairly obvious I&#8217;m not intending to buy one.<\/p>\n<p>After car-lookin&#8217; last night, his parents joined us for dinner at America&#8217;s Largest Sports Bar, and then we hung out at his place and watched the Twins game. I went home and assembled camping stuff and then crashed, grateful to have survived <em>two entire nights<\/em> away from my boyfriend. It&#8217;s difficult!<\/p>\n<p>Today we&#8217;re going to finish packing, food-shopping, and test-driving, because tomorrow we&#8217;re headed up to lovely Walker, Minnesota, for Moondance Jam. It&#8217;s a 4-day party that is unrivaled in legend, and the weather looks like it&#8217;ll be perfect. While you&#8217;re all doing your thing Friday night, I&#8217;ll be watching Poison.
