Today, my friends, is exactly one month away from the Breast Cancer 3-Day.<\/p>\n
When I started my fundraising campaign last September, one of the most common questions I heard was, “How long do I have to donate?” Well, guess what?<\/p>\nBack then, it was just me and Wendy<\/a>; now we have a team of ten women<\/a> who will be walking 60 miles with over 3,000 other participants; we’ll be sleeping in tents, getting blisters, and crying a lot. Possibly even HUGGING. When I return, I will have stories and photos and I’ll probably have registered for the 2007 event already.<\/p>\nI’ll tell you all about it, and I’ll ask you to join me. Because you know what? It will change your life. You can<\/i> walk 60 miles. You can<\/i> raise that much money. You can<\/i> help end this disease, and someday none of us will have to watch our friends and family suffer. I know that for certain.<\/p>\nIn the past several months, you’ve bowled-for-the-cure, bought truffles, cookies, pink wristbands, and raffle tickets, you’ve visited us in the skyways in downtown Minneapolis, at our garage sale, and the Booby-Q. You’ve donated online and in-person, and our team has now raised exactly $23,235.33<\/b>. That money doesn’t go to feed or shelter or support us during the walk, it goes right to the Komen Foundation and the National Philanthropic Trust, to end breast cancer. If you want a good idea of how emotional and life-changing the 3day is, watch this video<\/a>; I’ve seen it four times and I still can’t help crying over it.<\/p>\nWe’re having another fundraiser next month, the weekend before the 3day. Park Tavern has donated their space, so we’re holding Bowling For The Cure, The Sequel. Please mark your calendars for Sunday, August 13, because it’ll be even better than the first. My team has a goal of $30,000, and I think we can still achieve that in the next month.
