I&#8217;ve been too busy trying to catch up on stuff to type. Also, I&#8217;ll have more about it when I get through photo-editing*.<\/p>\n<p>The short version:<\/p>\n<p>NEW ORLEANS IS SO MUCH FUN. I could&#8217;ve stayed there&#8230; well, permanently.<\/p>\n<p>We met a bunch of awesome people. We heard a lot of great music, including a reggae show and an impromptu <a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/queen_of_subtle\/4558143542\/\" target=\"_blank\">brass band show<\/a> on a streetcorner. We walked so much I got killer blisters and had to limp, but we kept on walking. We took a riverboat cruise up the Mississippi River to see a battlefield, because we&#8217;re that kind of nerd.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"battlefield\" src=\"http:\/\/farm4.static.flickr.com\/3215\/4557553865_71bb51a287.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We had all the classic cocktails invented there, including the Sazerac and absinthe drip. I want to believe seeing that old lady&#8217;s naked ass being spanked on Bourbon Street was an absinthe-related hallucination, but I know that&#8217;s not the case at all.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" title=\"sazerac\" src=\"http:\/\/farm4.static.flickr.com\/3422\/4557576923_585795b21a.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We also drove through Mississippi and Alabama and didn&#8217;t get threatened or killed once. In fact, it was downright pleasant! We laid on the beach in Alabama, and won some money gambling in Mississippi.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" title=\"dauphin island\" src=\"http:\/\/farm4.static.flickr.com\/3652\/4557590855_1eaa98e72b.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We also met a man named Beau who <a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/queen_of_subtle\/4557521587\/\" target=\"_blank\">did the worm for us on a barroom floor<\/a> shortly before we had to head back to Minnesota. It was the best kind of farewell for New Orleans: a completely ridiculous one.<\/p>\n<p>Seems like Bally had a pretty great time, too.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" title=\"bally\" src=\"http:\/\/farm4.static.flickr.com\/3475\/4557587495_e324defeb8.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>*My camera rolled over 10,000 photos and had to start renumbering at 1 again.
