I mostly wanted to see how much more linoleum-gouging I had to do, but it was great to see it turn into something real:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" title=\"bird\" src=\"http:\/\/farm5.static.flickr.com\/4038\/4399384243_d0852ddfa8.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"375\" height=\"500\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Rather than spend my time in class scraping, we decided I should start printing the text. I&#8217;m doing a calendar page, with metal type for the dates and wood block for the name of the month. Since metal and wood print differently, we&#8217;re doing it in three runs. So let&#8217;s just hope my measuring skills are up to par.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Once I got the type block lined up (seriously, it probably took half an hour to get it in the right place), I printed 12 copies on really nice paper. And holy crap, it&#8217;s exciting: the text came out nice and clean, and the impression is perfect.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Next week I&#8217;ll have the final edition of my first on-my-own letterpress project!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>At open studio on Monday, I did a test print of my bird lino block.
