\nHOCKEY.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The NHL begins its regular season tonight. Technically the Gophers season doesn’t start til October 16, but my sister and I are attending their only pre-season game (while Matt’s watching the last Twins game at the dome!) on Sunday. I CAN’T WAIT.<\/p>\n

I’ve been in a haze the last few days and haven’t done much of anything but work and try to stay awake. I felt like I was getting sick, but I think I managed to kick it. I’m ready to return to my normally-scheduled activities.<\/p>\n

Last Friday, Matt and I got a tour of Willis and Katie’s new house<\/a> in south Minneapolis, a mere couple of miles away from us. It’s huge<\/em>. We then met a bunch of people at Grumpy’s to watch the Twins game, and ended the night at Bradstreet with Willis and Doran.<\/p>\n

Saturday and Sunday, we accomplished more than normal human beings should around the house, all while managing to take in many football games. The weekend-football tradition has become very dear to me, as it involves chillin’ with my favorite boy, knitting, and then doing housework when I get bored with hearing about Favre’s love of the game.<\/p>\n

In the evening on Saturday, we joined Dan and Kate for dinner at Grumpy’s (again!), and then went to see the Weakerthans at Triple Rock. Despite the crappy unmoving hipster crowd (they were appreciating <\/em>it, man), the show was fantastic. Then we went to Palmer’s, one of the greatest unknown bars in America.<\/p>\n

On Monday we bowled, and I got to meet Art and Emily<\/a>. We did not do so well, firmly knocking ourselves out of first place, a position we’d achieved only because we bowled the nonexistent team last week. I have faith, however.<\/p>\n

We had frost Tuesday night. Though I covered the tomatoes, tomatillos, and peppers, they’re not long for this world. I may have spent time yesterday researching winnowing, so I can deal with my amaranth seed. Next up: churning butter and doing laundry on a washboard.<\/p>\n

Colleen arrived in town last night, so we gathered a group and took on trivia at the 501 Club. As usual, we took second place. We were only a point behind the incumbent team, though, so there’s hope! Anyone want free tickets to the Oak Street Cinema?<\/p>\n
