It’s fucking cold. I know you’ve probably heard that 500 times today, but seriously. I had a hard time deciding whether the drive to work (with only 2 severe fishtailing incidents, mostly because we never got over 20mph) or the 2-block walk, where my thighs went numb, was worse. It’s been a few years since the winter here has been so bad.<\/p>\n

Yesterday, we got up to 37 degrees and rain, with -2 forecast for the evening. Since we’re sometimes smart, we rescheduled our Aliveness Project<\/a> shopping trip for noon, to get home before everything started freezing.<\/p>\n

Since it was just me, Matt, and Stephanie, we decided to adopt a couple. I’m still a little disappointed in the lack of interest this year, since we’ve adopted a big family in the past, and had a bunch of people shopping for them. I guess times really are tough right now. Anyway, we were very pleased with the result! They recommend budgeting $35 per adoptee, but with three of us involved and a tricky combination of coupons and discounts, we were really pleased with the result. We got them a lot of what they requested: warm hoodies for winter, an ovenproof saute pan, a coffeemaker, and a nice watch.<\/p>\n

We’ll be dropping them off tonight, provided we can slide our way over there! The gifts are packaged with a big box of food and household supplies, and will be delivered to the recipients by volunteers next week. I love the Aliveness Project a lot.<\/p>\n

We turned on the Vikings game at 3, to find that the ice and wind were having disastrous effects on our cable. We ended up watching the Gophers game with the sound muted and radio broadcast on. The effect was much like watching scrambled porn on TV. NOT AWESOME.<\/p>\n
