an awesome downgrade 5

I went car-driving last night, and decided on a 2010 Nissan Versa. I’m getting the hatchback, because if you’re going to drive a car the size of a box, that’s the most useful format. Also, they had a $1,500 rebate, so I ended up with far more car than I was expecting! I need to get a check from my bank this week, and will pick up The Deuce on Friday. Which is good, because this is what I’m driving right now (it’s my dad’s):

Other recent news that’s not car-related at all:

I had a $2 bet on the winner of the Kentucky Derby. Clearly, I’m awesome. I won $18, which means… well, I lost $2 total on the entire slip. But still!

We’d never seen Canterbury during the offseason, and it was pretty spectacular. Also, the card room has Pai Gow (whereas Mystic Lake does not). We’ll be going back for that!

Meg came over to watch the derby and drink juleps with us, after which we went to spend the $50 I won at Suzi’s. Then we met Chris at Jaros (we haven’t been there forever, and it’s the same kind of awesome disaster), then headed to the Palace (ditto, only more vomit-smelling every time we visit).

We visited Bill, Katie, and Abigail in the hospital! I think they liked the monkey blanket! The whole family is home now, but Willis is totally slacking: I haven’t seen photos of the baby in at least 24 hours.

Sunday, we did a bunch of work in the yard. Mowed the lawn, put in fences to protect my clematis, bought and assembled a big deck box for the patio (which doubles as a two-person seat!), weeded the garden, trimmed the bushes (not a euphemism), and killed the extremely invasive groundcover in the front garden. Everything looks really awesome right now, so let’s hope it stays that way for at least two to three days.

Tonight is date night! We’re having dinner at Cafe Maude and going to see The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. I can’t wait!

I think you’ll be happy with the nissan; i drove them for nearly 25 years and loved them. They just keep running and running, and they handle like a dream. My only quibble was rust, but then i drove both of the vehicles for 12 years, so i guess you have to expect that after awhile. Happy driving!
